By on January 3, 2018

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Chelsea and Tottenham are linked with Federico Chiesa…

Representatives from Tottenham and Chelsea are heading to Italy to hold talks with Fiorentina over a deal to sign £35m-rated attacker Federico Chiesa, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Chiesa is the son of Calcio legend Enrico and has emerged as one of the most talented youngsters in Italian football since progressing through the Fiorentina youth system.

The 20-year-old is now a first team regular under Stefano Pioli and has provided 4 goals and 4 assists in his 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

The winger has attracted plenty of interest in his services with Juventus and Napoli among those linked but it seems Chiesa could be given the opportunity to try his luck here in England.

TeamTalk are citing a report from that claims Tottenham and Chelsea chiefs are flying to Italy to hold formal talks with Fiorentina over a deal to sign the talented attacker.

The report indicates that the London duo are ready to submit offers for Chiesa but La Viola are determined not to lose him on the cheap and have slapped a £35m (€40m) price-tag on his head.

The Serie A club are under no pressure to sell as Chiesa recently signed a new contract that ties him to the club until 2022 so it looks like Tottenham and Chelsea are going to have to dig deep if they want to sign him.

Chiesa is predominantly played as a right winger but he can also be deployed on the left or through the middle so his versatility will appeal to the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens over the coming days but Chiesa would be an exciting addition for the future if Spurs or Chelsea were able to get a deal agreed for his signature this winter.
