Arsenal vs Chelsea Betting Preview & Top Tips

chelsea's Willian

Two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs will do-battle at the Emirates this evening as Arsenal entertain Chelsea in north London.

Arsene Wenger’s men are under increasing pressure to secure a much-needed victory as they head in to the game sitting sixth in the table and six points adrift of the top four.

The Gunners were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion at the weekend and defeat tonight would leave them facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League next season.

However, a win this evening would see Arsenal climb in to fifth and to within three points of fourth-placed Liverpool so this is certainly a huge game for the north Londoners.

Chelsea have ambitions of their own as the Blues could move up to second with a win and extend their lead over Arsenal to ten points so Antonio Conte will be desperate to come away with victory this evening.

Ozil’s absence key?

Arsenal have growing injury problems with Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal Sead Kolasinac, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud set to miss out but it’s the absence of Mesut Ozil that would hurt them the most.

Ozil is a major doubt for the game tonight after missing the trip to West Brom with a knee injury and Arsenal aren’t the same side going forward without the mercurial German playmaker.

Betting odds

Arsenal are currently the 2/1 favourites with Betfair to win this game but those odds may lengthen if Ozil’s absence from the starting eleven if confirmed when the teams are announced an hour before kick off, so those looking to back the Gunners may want to hold off placing their bets until after 6.45pm.

However, after scouring the best and most updated football betting tips online, I think Chelsea are a decent bet tonight. Antonio Conte has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from and the Blues come in to the game having won four of their last five games, including an impressive 5-0 demolition of Stoke at the weekend.

Chelsea to win at 16/11 with Ladbrokes looks a tempting punt as before losing 3-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates last season, they had an excellent record against their London rivals and are certainly the team playing the best football at present. When you consider Arsenal’s injury problems, I think Chelsea should be favourites to come away victorious this evening.

Both teams to score

Arsenal have scored in 100% of their home games this season while Chelsea have scored in 80% of their away games this campaign so the stats point to both teams getting on the score-sheet tonight. My favourite betting tip for the game involves Chelsea to win and both teams to score at odds of 3/1.

For those who like to bet on the goalscorer market it’s worth looking at Willian. The Brazilian international comes in to the game in fine form having scored in three of his last five starts so I’d be tempted to stick £5 on him scoring at any time at odds of 4/1.
