World Class Forward Demands £20.8m-A-Year Deal To Join Man Utd

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Antoine Griezmann demands huge wages to join Man Utd…

Antoine Griezmann is demanding a HUGE contract worth over £20m-per-year in order to snub Barcelona and join Manchester United, according to a report in the Mirror.

United were strongly linked with a move for the French international last summer but Griezmann pulled out of a proposed deal after Atletico Madrid were slapped with a transfer ban which meant they couldn’t sign a replacement.

Speculation surrounding the strikers future has been rekindled in recent months after Griezmann released an autobiography in which he admitted he could be interested in moving to Old Trafford.

A move in the summer looks a distinct possibility following the arrival of Diego Costa at the Vicente Calderon but Barcelona have since emerged as the front-runners for his signature.

However, the Mirror are citing a report from The Sun that claims Griezmann has now told United he’s willing to snub a move to the Nou Camp but only if he’s paid a whopping £400,000-a-week – which works out at £20.8m-per-season.

The report suggests that United were prepared to offer Griezmann around £290,000-a-week but it remains to be seen whether they are ready to stretch to £400,000-a-week.

That would make the 26-year-old the highest paid player in the Premier League and given his transfer fee will be in the region of £90m, it would be a significant outlay if United decided to push ahead with the transfer.

Obviously the Red Devils are one of the few clubs who could afford such a deal and Griezmann has developed in to one of the best forward’s in Europe since joining Atletico in 2014.

Jose Mourinho knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if he’s to build a side capable of challenging Man City so maybe United are going to have to pay what’s required to sign world class players like Griezmann in order to catch their rivals.
