Man Utd Ready To Hijack Liverpool’s Move For Bundesliga Attacker

By on January 11, 2018

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Man Utd are linked with Christian Pulisic…

Liverpool have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Christian Pulisic as Manchester United are ready to hijack their attempts to sign the Borussia Dortmund attacker, according to the Independent.

Pulisic has developed in to one of the most exciting youngsters in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 with the winger now an established first team player at the Westfalonstadion.

The United States international has made 23 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund so far this campaign while he’s also scored 9 goals in 20 caps for his country.

His potential has attracted strong interest from Liverpool with former Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly desperate to lure Pulisic to Anfield at the end of the season.

Klopp is on the look out for attacking reinforcements following Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona and Pulisic could be viewed as a long-term replacement as he capable of playing on either wing.

However, it looks like Liverpool will now face stiff competition as the Independent claim that Man Utd have identified Pulisic as a prime transfer target of their own.

The newspaper says United will attempt to hijack any move made by Liverpool to sign the 19-year-old this summer as the Red Devils feel Pulisic is not only a talented player but he also has huge commercial appeal in the USA.

Jose Mourinho has been tipped to revamp his attacking options and Pulisic could be viewed as a potential replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the Armenian international falling out of favour this season.

United could also have the edge over Liverpool in any negotiations due to Dortmund’s interest in re-signing Mkhitaryan so Mourinho may use the 28-year-old as bait to land Pulisic this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but United’s interest is bad news for Liverpool as they have the financial firepower to blow the Merseysiders out of the water in terms of transfer fee and wages.
