Liverpool Expected To Beat Man Utd To Sign £100m Attacker

By on January 13, 2018

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Liverpool are tipped to land Christian Pulisic…

Liverpool are expected to beat Manchester United to the signing of Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic in a £100m deal but the transfer may wait until the summer, according to a report in the Express.

Pulisic joined Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 and has developed in to one of the most exciting youngsters in European football since breaking in to the first team set-up.

The 19-year-old is now an important part of Peter Stoger’s starting eleven having made 23 appearances in all competitions this season while he’s also scored 9 goals in his 20 caps for the United States.

His potential has attracted strong interest from the Premier League with the Independent reporting last week that Manchester United had joined Liverpool in the race to sign the talented teen.

Jurgen Klopp has been a long-term fan of the player as he gave Pulisic his debut during his time at Dortmund and it seems the Liverpool boss is keen for a reunion at Anfield.

It looked like the Merseysiders were going to face stiff competition as the Independent suggested that United would try to hijack any attempts made by Liverpool to sign Pulisic over the coming months.

Jose Mourinho knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if United are to match Manchester City and Pulisic would be an exciting addition to the squad if he was successful in luring him to Old Trafford.

However, the Express are citing Bleacher Report as saying today that Liverpool are still expected to win the race for Pulisic’s signature with the report claiming it’s a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’ the transfer happens.

The newspaper suggests that Liverpool will pay up to £100m to sign the USA star but they may have to wait until the summer for the transfer to go through as Dortmund are reluctant to lose the attacker mid-season.

Liverpool are in the market for reinforcements following Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to Barcelona and the Express claim Klopp is willing to spend the vast majority of the funds on landing Pulisic.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Pulisic would be a superb signing for Liverpool if they do end up beating United to his signature this summer.
