Aubameyang Set For £54m Arsenal Move As Dortmund Line-Up Chelsea Man As Replacement

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on Aubameyang’s move to Arsenal….

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to complete his move to Arsenal after Borussia Dortmund lined-up Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi as a replacement, according to reports in Germany via the Metro.

Aubameyang has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this month after Arsene Wenger identified him as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez.

Reports from Germany [via The Sun] claimed yesterday that the Gabon international had handed in a transfer request in order to push through a proposed £54m move to the Emirates.

Aubameyang is understood to be desperate to leave Dortmund after being slapped with his third internal suspension at the weekend following a series of disciplinary issues at the Westfalonstadion over the past year.

The Metro are now citing a report from Bild that claims Aubameyang is expected to complete his move to Arsenal over the coming days after agreeing personal terms with the north Londoners.

The German publication says Dortmund have already found the man they want to replace last season’s Bundesliga Golden Boot winner as they are ready to approach Chelsea to sign Batshuayi.

Dortmund were initially keen to take Olivier Giroud as part-exchange for Aubameyang but the Frenchman isn’t interested in a move to Germany so they’ve now turned their attention to Batshuayi.

The Belgian international has struggled to establish himself under Antonio Conte and the Blues are ready to let Batshuayi leave this month if a replacement can be found with West Ham’s Andy Carroll strongly linked.

So it looks like there could be a striker merry-go-round over the coming days that may see Carroll join Chelsea, Aubameyang move to Arsenal with Batshuayi heading to Dortmund as a replacement.

Arsenal should be the big winners as Aubameyang is a world class striker who’s already bagged 21 goals in 23 games this season so the 28-year-old would give Arsene Wenger’s men a much-needed lift if he does complete a move to north London.
