Arsenal & Tottenham Both Locked In Talks To Sign £35m Brazilian As Player Eyes Move

Arsenal and Tottenham are locked in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign £35m-rated winger Lucas Moura this month

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, the latest on Lucas Moura…

Arsenal and Tottenham are locked in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign £35m-rated winger Lucas Moura this month, according to the Express.

Moura is set to leave the Parc des Prince after struggling to force his way in to Unai Emery’s side this season with the winger playing just 75 minutes of Ligue 1 football so far this campaign.

The Brazilian international is behind the likes of Neymar, Julian Draxler, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria in the pecking order so it’s no wonder Moura is eyeing a move in order to rejuvenate his career ahead of the World Cup.

PSG are also keen to sell the attacker as they need to balance the books to comply with Financial Fair Play guidelines and the Express claim they value Moura at around £35m.

Understandably, there has been plenty of interest being shown in the winger and the newspaper says Arsenal and Tottenham are both hoping to lure Moura to the Premier League.

The Gunners completed a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez last night but they still need to replace Theo Walcott following his move to Everton earlier this month.

It seems Arsene Wenger has lined-up Moura as the man he wants and the Express claim that after initially wanting him on loan Arsenal have opened talks with PSG over a permanent deal.

However, the Gunners will face stiff competition from their north London rivals as the report says Tottenham have tabled an offer of their own for Moura’s signature this month.

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to further strengthen his attacking options and Moura would provide support for the likes of Heung-min Son and Erik Lamela if he moved to Spurs.

The attacker has now come out and admitted he’s ‘gutted’ about how his career at PSG has gone since arriving in 2013. Moura is quoted by the Daily Star as saying:

“It’s a brutal blow. I’m gutted that I’m no longer playing, to no longer be able to express myself as I was doing before.

“I’m not happy. I thought I’d built something solid with this club, but that’s clearly not the case.”

It seems like it’s only a matter of time before Moura leaves PSG and I think he could turn out to be a shrewd piece of business if Arsenal or Tottenham could lure him to England.
