Tottenham Team News: Pochettino Has 7 Fitness Concerns Ahead Of FA Cup Clash

Mauricio Pochettino has offered an extensive update on Tottenham’s injury problems with seven men doubts to face Newport County this weekend.

Tottenham will be looking to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they take on Newport County on Saturday evening.

Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

The Spurs boss has plenty of fitness concerns to worry about with seven of his first team squad all needing to be assessed ahead of the trip to Rodney Parade this weekend.

Toby Alderweireld handed Spurs a huge boost after returning to full training this weekend having recovered from a hamstring injury that he suffered against Real Madrid at the start of November.

However, after spending three months on the sidelines, Pochettino has urged caution with the Belgian international and says the defender will need to be assessed tomorrow before his availability is determined.

Danny Rose is also working his way back to full fitness after aggravating a long-term knee injury and the left-back will also face a late fitness test to see if he’ll be in contention this weekend.

Christian Eriksen and Hugo Lloris missed the draw at Southampton last weekend with a virus and they’ll be checked over at training on Friday but the duo are expected to be passed fit.

Serge Aurier limped off against the Saints on Sunday with a minor calf issue so the full-back is a doubt this weekend while Erik Lamela could miss out due to a gluteus injury.

Harry Winks has been on the sidelines in recent weeks with an ankle problem and the midfielder is unlikely to recover in time to face Newport so Pochettino has plenty of fitness worries on Saturday.
