Aubameyang Ready To Sign £180k-A-Week Deal As Arsenal Close-In On £60m Hitman

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ready to sign a contract worth £180,000-a-week with Arsenal and the Gunners are confident of getting a deal over the line

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal remain confident of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang….

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ready to sign a contract worth £180,000-a-week with Arsenal and the Gunners are confident of getting a deal over the line before the end of the month, according to the Mirror.

Aubameyang has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates over the past fortnight after Arsene Wenger identified the striker as a key target following the departures of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal chiefs have been in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund all week after chief executive Ivan Gazidis, lawyer Huss Fahmy and head scout Sven Mislintat flew-out to Germany last weekend to thrash out a deal.

Dortmund have so far rejected a number of bids from Arsenal with the latest reportedly worth in the region of £50m but the Mirror claim the Bundesliga club are holding out for a fee closer to £60m.

After being dropped for their two previous games, Aubameyang was recalled to the starting eleven and played the full ninety minutes as Dortmund drew 2-2 with Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.

It was seen as a ‘power play’ by Dortmund to try and strengthen their negotiating position but the Mirror claim Arsenal remain confident of getting a deal agreed before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

The newspaper says Aubameyang is desperate to secure a move to the Emirates and is ready to sign a three-and-a-half year deal worth £180,000-a-week once we agree a fee.

Michael Zorc, sporting director at Dortmund, admitted yesterday that they will cash-in on the 28-year-old if their asking price is met while he also confirmed they have rejected a number of bids from Arsenal.

Zorc is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“We are ready to realise a transfer under certain parameters, but only if these [parameters] are fully met.

“Arsenal have made several attempts thus far, but we have refused them all.”

The proposed transfer is expected to go right down to the wire and talk continues that Olivier Giroud could be included in any deal with the Frenchman possibly joining Dortmund in search of more regular game time ahead of the World Cup.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think we’ll get a deal agreed in the end. Arsenal clearly want the striker, Aubameyang wants to leave and Dortmund want to sell so it would be hugely disappointing if we can’t get this deal over the line.
