Aubameyang Breakthrough: Arsenal Finally Agree £55.2m Deal To Sign Dortmund Hitman

Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after striking a deal worth £55.2m

The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after striking a deal worth £55.2m, according to Kicker.

We’ve been in advanced negotiations with Dortmund for over a week after chief executive Ivan Gazidis, lawyer Huss Fahmy and head scout Sven Mislintat flew-out to Germany last weekend to thrash out a deal.

Aubameyang’s situation at the Westfalonstadion has become virtually untenable after a series of fall-outs with the clubs hierarchy, the fans and the media in recent months.

The striker has been desperate to secure a move to north London but Dortmund have been playing hardball and rejected at least two sizeable offers last week from Arsenal – the latest reportedly worth around £50m.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed on Saturday that they could sell Aubameyang to Arsenal as long as we put forward a suitable offer as the clubs continued negotiations.

It seems an agreement has finally been reached as Kicker are reporting that Arsenal and Dortmund have agreed a deal in principal worth £55.2m (€65m) for Aubameyang’s signature.

The usually-reliable German outlet says Dortmund had wanted Olivier Giroud to join on loan for the rest of the season as part of the deal but the Frenchman is reluctant to leave London this winter.

Kicker say that before the Aubameyang deal can be officially confirmed, Dortmund need to find a new striker and they’re targetting a swoop for Tianjin Quanjian forward Anthony Modeste.

Several other media outlets are also reporting that a deal for Aubameyang to join Arsenal is on the verge of completion and the Mirror reported over the weekend that the 28-year-old is ready to sign a three-and-a-half year deal worth £180,000-a-week.

So it looks like this deal is expected to go through before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night and Aubameyang should prove to be an excellent signing as he’s one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.
