Arsenal & Liverpool Agree To Pay £28m Asking Price To Sign German Star

Arsenal and Liverpool have agreed to meet the £28m asking price to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay at the end of the season

The January transfer window in now closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Kerem Demirbay….

Arsenal and Liverpool have agreed to meet the £28m asking price to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay at the end of the season, according to reports in Germany via TeamTalk.

Demirbay has developed in to one of the most highly-rated midfield players in the Bundesliga since joining Hoffenheim from Hamburger SV in the summer of 2016.

The 24-year-old is now a regular in Julian Nagelsmann’s starting eleven this season and his impressive form has seen him break in to the senior German squad with 2 caps to his name so far.

It seems Demirbay’s potential has also caught the eye of clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk are citing a report from SportsBild that claims Arsenal and Liverpool are among those chasing his signature.

The German outlet says the English giants have already held talks with Demirbay’s agent and told him they are willing to meet the £28m (€32m) release clause that was inserted in to his contract last summer.

The likes of Everton, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund have also reportedly expressed their interest but the report suggests that Arsenal and Liverpool are leading the chase after making it clear they are ready to pay his exit fee.

Arsene Wenger is seemingly in the market for midfield reinforcements as Granit Xhaka has struggled this season while Santi Cazorla’s career is in doubt due to a serious Achilles injury and Arsenal fans are crying out for a midfield enforcer.

However, the Gunners will face stiff competition for Demirbay’s signature as Liverpool are also on the look out for a new midfielder to replace Emre Can – who’s being tipped to leave when his contract expires in June.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but Demirbay would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or Liverpool and his £28m release clause is very reasonable in today’s excessive market.
