Manchester United will be looking to maintain second place in the table when they take on Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

The Reds boss confirmed a fresh injury blow with Ander Herrera set for a spell on the sidelines after aggravating a hamstring injury during the 0-0 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Herrera was declared fit to start in Spain after missing the last few weeks with a hamstring problem but the midfielder lasted less than 20 minutes before hobbling off to be replaced by Paul Pogba.

Mourinho says it’s not yet clear exactly how long Herrera will be out for but the Spanish international is facing at least ‘a few weeks’ on the sidelines so he’s certain to miss the Chelsea game on Sunday.

To add to United’s problems, Mourinho also confirmed that none of his other injured players are ready to return to action so he’ll choose from a similar squad to the one that faced Sevilla.

Mourinho told ManUtd.com:

“Ander is out. I don’t know the final diagnosis but I know he’ll be out for a few weeks. I don’t know how many is a few – two, three, four, five, six weeks – I don’t know, but a few weeks, for sure. Coming back from injury – nobody else.”

Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are all still unavailable so United are getting stretched in defence while Marouane Fellaini is still several weeks away from returning from a knee injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also still working his way back to fitness from a knee ligament problem so with Herrera joining the casualty list, it means United will be without six players for the visit of Chelsea this weekend.
