Arsenal & Tottenham In Battle To Sign £50m South American Attacker

Arsenal and Tottenham face a battle with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Bordeaux’s £50m-rated attacker Malcom this summer, according to reports

The January transfer window in closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, the race to sign Malcom hots-up….

Arsenal and Tottenham face a battle with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Bordeaux’s £50m-rated attacker Malcom this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Malcom has emerged as one of the top young talents in Europe since joining Bordeaux two years ago and he’s provided eight goals and seven assists in his 28 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

The Brazilian U23 international has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League with Arsenal and Tottenham both strongly linked with the winger in recent months.

The north London duo both reportedly held talks with Bordeaux and Malcom’s agents during the January transfer window and are being tipped to step-up their interest ahead of summer swoops.

Arsene Wenger is under pressure to revamp his squad following another disappointing campaign and a new wide-man is needed as the Gunners have a real lack of width in their ranks at present.

Malcom would fit the bill as he’s capable of playing on either wing but Tottenham are also expected to further strengthen their squad this summer and the South American is also on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar.

However, Arsenal and Spurs will now face stiff competition from Germany as the Mirror are citing a report from the Sun that claims Dortmund have now joined the chase for Malcom’s signature.

The newspaper says Bordeaux want at least £50m for their star man and while that sort of money shouldn’t be too much of a problem for Arsenal or Spurs, Dortmund can also afford it after selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Gunners last month.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming months but I think Malcom would be a hugely exciting signing for Arsenal or Spurs if either club was able to win the race for his signature this summer.
