Tottenham Keen But Liverpool Favourites To Sign Prolific German Attacker

The January transfer window in closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham are linked with Marco Reus….

Liverpool are favourites ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus this summer, according to reports today.

Reus has established himself as one of the most talented attackers in European football since joining Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012.

The 28-year-old’s career has been blighted by a number of serious injuries but he’s still been prolific when fit having provided 91 goals and 61 assists in his 194 appearances during his time at the Westfalonstadion.

The German international has recently returned from his latest lengthy lay-off and has scored in his last two games against Monchengladbach and Augsburg as he looks to secure his place in Joachim Low’s squad for this summers World Cup.

However, Reus’s future at Dortmund is in doubt as he has less than 18 months left on his contract and he’s yet to sign an extension after recently admitting that he’s considering a fresh challenge.

It seems the attacker has admirers in the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Tottenham have identified Reus as a summer transfer target as Mauricio Pochettino looks to further strengthen his talented squad.

However, Spurs have some serious competition as Calciomercato say Liverpool are leading the race to sign Reus as Jurgen Klopp looks to be reunited with the German star at Anfield.

The report claims Reus favours a move to Liverpool as he wants to work with Klopp again having played under him during their time together at Dortmund so a move to Merseyside could be on the cards.

Liverpool have one of the most feared attacks in Europe right now but Klopp knows he needs to add more depth this summer if they’re to compete on all fronts next season and Reus would be an excellent addition if they could get a deal agreed.
