Man Utd Join Arsenal & Tottenham In Race To Sign 6ft Midfield Star

Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure this summer, according to the Mirror.

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the race for Abdoulaye Doucoure hots-up…

Manchester United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure this summer, according to the Mirror.

Doucoure has been a key figure for Watford since joining the club from Rennes in an £8m deal in 2016 with the midfielder providing 7 goals and 3 assists in his 28 league appearances so far this campaign.

The 25-year-old starred during the Hornets 4-1 victory over Chelsea last month and that performance caught the attention of several clubs in the upper echelons of the Premier League with the Daily Mail claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on signing the midfielder.

The Gunners are expected to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Santi Cazorla is unlikely to play top flight football again while the future’s of Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are in doubt, and it seems Doucoure is on their radar.

Mauricio Pochettino is also tracking the French U21 international as the Tottenham boss looks to further strengthen his talented young squad and Doucoure could be viewed as a replacement for Victor Wanyama – who’s been linked with a move this summer.

However, it seems the north Londoners will now face stiff competition as the Mirror claim that Man Utd have now joined the race to sign Doucoure ahead of the summer window.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for two central midfielders as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini is set to leave when his contract expires and it seems the United boss has short-listed Doucoure as a potential signing.

The 6ft midfielder has just over two years left on his contract so Watford may be forced to cash-in this summer or risk seeing his value drop if they can’t persuade him to sign a new deal.

However, with the likes of United, Arsenal and Spurs showing a keen interest in signing him, I can’t see Doucoure agreeing to commit his future to Vicarage Road any time soon so a big-money move could be on the cards this summer.
