Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign a new right-back this summer and is eyeing a raid on Real Madrid for Dani Carvajal, according to the Mirror.
Klopp has one of the best attacks in Europe at his disposal but he knows the Reds need to improve defensively if they’re to become genuine title contenders next season.
Despite the encouraging progress being made by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez this season, the Mirror claims Klopp feels he needs a new right-back and has lined-up an ambitious target.
The newspaper cites reports coming out of Spain that say Klopp has identified Carvajal as the man he wants and Liverpool are now plotting an audacious swoop on Real Madrid this summer.
Carvajal progressed through the Madrid youth ranks after joining his boyhood club as a youngster and spent a season with Bayer Leverkusen before returning to the Bernabeu in 2013.
The 26-year-old has been a regular ever since and has played a key role in helping Zinedine Zidane’s side win a whole host of top honours including 1 La Liga title and 3 Champions League’s.
Carvajal is also a regular in the Spain squad so he’d be an excellent signing if Liverpool were somehow able to lure him to Anfield but that will no doubt prove to be extremely difficult.

The full-back is contracted to Madrid until 2022, has a huge release fee in his deal and is happy in Spain so I think Liverpool will find it practically impossible to get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.
