Man Utd Steal March On Chelsea By Making Offer To Sign Prolific 32-Goal Hitman

Manchester United have stolen a march on Chelsea after launching a move to sign prolific Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski ahead of the summer

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Robert Lewandowski…

Manchester United have stolen a march on Chelsea after launching a move to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski ahead of the summer, according to report in Germany via the Mirror.

Lewandowski has been one of the most prolific hitmen in world football for several years and he took his tally to 32 goals in just 35 games this season with a hat trick against Hamburg on Saturday.

It means the Polish international has scored an incredible 142 goals in just 182 appearances to help win a whole host of trophies since joining Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.

However, Lewandowski’s future at the Allianz Arena has been cast in serious doubt after reports emerged suggesting the striker is ready to quit the German giants this summer in search of a fresh challenge.

The 29-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Independent reporting last month that Man Utd and Chelsea are ready to battle-it-out if the striker decided he wanted to try his luck in England.

The Blues are expected to be in the market for another striker as Alvaro Morata has endured a mixed spell in west London since joining from Real Madrid last summer and Antonio Conte is eyeing an audacious swoop for Lewandowski.

However, it looks like United have now stolen a march on their rivals as the Mirror is citing a report from Kicker that claims the Red Devils have become the first club to put forward an offer for the striker.

The German publication says Chelsea and Real Madrid are still keeping a close eye on the situation so no doubt United will face competition but they are currently the front runners for Lewandowski’s signature.

Jose Mourinho needs to sign a new front-man as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to leave when his contract expires in June and Lewandowski would be a world class replacement if they could land him.

However, the Polish hitman is still under contract until 2021 and Bayern will no doubt do all they can to persuade him to stay in Germany so it will be interesting to see how this develops over the coming months.
