Man Utd Open Talks With Agent As Mourinho Looks To Sign French Star

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Blaise Matuidi…

Manchester United have renewed their interest in signing Blaise Matuidi after holding talks with his agent about a potential move this summer, according to the Mirror.

Matuidi gained a reputation as one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe during his time at Paris Saint-Germain where he helped the French giants win a whole host of honours including 4 Ligue 1 titles.

That form led to interest from Man Utd last summer but the Red Devils missed out as Matuidi ended up joining Juventus where he’s continued to impress at the heart of midfield this season.

It looks like United haven’t given up hope of getting their hands on the French international as the Mirror are citing reports from Rai Sport that claim Jose Mourinho has renewed his interest in signing Matuidi.

The newspaper says Juve are keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old but United officials have still opened talks talks with Matuidi’s agent, Mino Raiola, about a potential switch to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Obviously United have a close relationship with Raiola having signed several of his clients in recent years so this could play a key role in securing a deal for Matuidi to join the Red Devils.

Mourinho is expected to sign at least one midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick is set to retire while Marouane Fellaini is out of contract in June and is yet to sign an extension.

Matuidi could be viewed as a potential replacement as the Frenchman is a powerful, athletic midfielder who would form a strong partnership alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba next season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Matuidi would be an excellent signing if United could pull it off this summer.
