Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is still keen on signing Willian and is plotting a summer swoop for the £60m-rated Chelsea attacker, according to the Sun.

Willian joined Chelsea from Shaktar Donetsk in a £27million deal back in 2013 and he’s helped the west Londoners win two Premier League titles over the past four years.

Despite not always being a regular under Antonio Conte this season, the Brazilian international has still managed to provide an impressive 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions so far.

However, Willian’s future at Stamford Bridge has been a constant subject of speculation in recent months as he’s approaching the final two years of his current deal and talks over a new contract have failed to progress.

United have been linked with Willian ever since Jose Mourinho took over at Old Trafford and it looks like the Portuguese coach hasn’t given up hope of luring the South American to Manchester.

The Sun claim Mourinho has sent his scouts to keep an eye on the 29-year-old on several occasions this season and the United boss is ready to renew his interest in the £60m-rated attacker this summer.

An apparent source from inside Old Trafford is quoted as telling the newspaper:

“Jose is still interested in him. The club had a sniff last year but Matic was the only possibility.

“He does not have long left on his contract. The boss is a huge fan of his, he is always pull of praise.

“God knows where this leaves the rest of the wide players at the club but it cannot be good for them.

“He is a fantastic trainer with a great attitude towards his football according to Jose.”

Mourinho is under pressure following their shock Champions League exit to Sevilla and the United boss knows he needs to rejuvenate his squad this summer if they’re to compete for top trophies again.

Alexis Sanchez has been disappointing since joining from Arsenal in January so Willian could provide a spark in the final third that United have lacked at times this season.

United obviously have the money to pay the reported £60m valuation and Chelsea have shown in the past with the sales of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic that they’ll do business with their rivals if the price is right.
