Liverpool & Man Utd Given Green Light To Sign £50m South American

Liverpool and Manchester United have been given the green light to push ahead with moves for Jorginho as Napoli prepare for life without the midfielder

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jorginho….

Liverpool and Manchester United have been given the green light to push ahead with moves for Jorginho as Napoli prepare for life without the midfielder, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Jorginho has developed in to one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A since joining Napoli from Verona in 2014 and he’s also now a regular in the Italian national squad.

The 26-year-old has been an integral part of Mauricio Sarri’s starting eleven this season as the Naples club battle it out with Juventus for the Serie A title.

The Brazilian-born midfielder’s impressive form has attracted interest from a host of clubs throughout Europe with the Mirror reporting earlier this month that Liverpool and Man Utd were hoping to lure him to the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to be in the market for a potential replacement for Emre Can as the German star’s contract expires in June and Jorginho is seemingly on Liverpool’s radar.

Jose Mourinho is also set to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini is yet to agree terms over a new deal and United have also been tracking Jorginho.

It looks like Napoli are now resigned to losing the South American as TeamTalk are citing a report from Corriere dello Sport that claims the Serie A outfit have agreed terms to sign Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira as a replacement.

This has seemingly given Liverpool and United the green light to press ahead with their attempts to sign Jorginho – although the report suggests Napoli will want around £50m for his signature.

The English giants have the finances to match that valuation so a move to the Premier League could be on the cards and I think Jorginho would be a superb signing for Liverpool or United if either club could get a deal agreed.
