Liverpool Ready To Battle Arsenal Over Deal To Sign £88m La Liga Star

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Arsenal over the signing of Atletico Madrid’s £88m-rated goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer

The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Jan Oblak is linked with a move to the Premier League….

Liverpool are ready to battle-it-out with Arsenal over the signing of Atletico Madrid’s £88m-rated goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Oblak has developed in to one of the best keepers in Europe since joining Atletico from Benfica in the summer of 2014 and he’s now a vital part of Diego Simeone’s starting eleven.

The 25-year-old has conceded just 12 goals in his 28 league appearances this season, keeping 18 clean sheets along the way, and it seems his impressive displays have caught the eye of clubs here in England.

The Mirror claim that Liverpool and Arsenal are both showing a keen interest in signing Oblak and are ready to do-battle over the Slovenian international’s signature this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly on the look out for a new number one as Simon Mignolet has fallen out of favour and while Loris Karius has shown some promise, the Reds still need a more reliable stopper if they’re to become genuine title contenders.

Arsenal are also in the market for a new keeper as Petr Cech turns 36 in May and his best days are behind him so a new long-term replacement is needed at the Emirates.

It seems both clubs have set their sights on Oblak but Liverpool and Arsenal will have to dig deep if they want to sign him as the Mirror suggest Atletico will demand the full value of his £88m release clause.

That would smash both clubs transfer record and set a new world record for a goalkeeper so it would be a huge outlay if either club agreed to pay the £88m it will take to sign Oblak.

However, top class goalkeepers are worth their weight in gold and I think Oblak would be a superb signing for Liverpool or Arsenal if either club was able to lure him to the Premier League this summer.
