Arsenal are hoping to get a deal wrapped-up before the summer as we prepare to table a formal £25m bid for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, according to the Sun via TeamTalk.

Arsene Wenger is expected to revamp his squad this summer [if he manages to keep his job] and new head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has been tasked with drawing-up a list of targets.

A replacement for Petr Cech is high on the agenda as our current number one turns 36 in May and has endured a tough campaign that’s been littered with costly individual mistakes.

David Ospina is being tipped to leave at the end of the season as he’s not done enough to prove he’s the answer to our goalkeeping problems so Arsenal chiefs are in the market for a new stopper.

Leno has emerged as a key target in recent weeks and it looks as though we’re ready to formalise our interest as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Sun that claims Arsenal are set to table a £25m offer.

The report says Mislintat has identified Leno as the perfect man to take over from Cech having watched him closely during his time in Germany and the club are hoping to get a deal wrapped-up well ahead of the summer.

Leno is under contract with Leverkusen until 2020 but he’s being tipped to join a bigger club and it seems Arsenal are hoping to offer him a fresh challenge in the Premier League.

However, we could face some serious competition as the Sun, via TeamTalk, claims that Napoli and Roma are also tracking Leno as the Italian duo look to sign new keeper’s at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has developed in to one of the best goalkeepers in German football since joining Leverkusen in 2011 and he’s been capped 6 times for the national team so it’s no surprise he’s attracting interest.
