Tottenham will look to close in on second place in the table when they welcome Manchester City to Wembley on Saturday night.

Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update ahead of the game.

The Spurs boss has confirmed a fresh blow with the news that Danny Rose has been ruled out of the game this weekend after picking up a calf injury.

Rose completed the full ninety minutes during the 2-1 victory over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium last weekend but it seems he’s suffered a calf problem and won’t be available on Saturday.

It compounds what’s been a frustrating season for Rose as a number of injury problems have restricted him to making just 7 Premier League starts and he’s struggled to hold down a first team place.

Fellow full-back Kyle Walker-Peters has also been ruled out of the visit of City this weekend due to an on-going hamstring injury that’s kept him out in recent weeks.

Pochettino also revealed that Harry Winks has travelled to Qatar to attend the Aspetar clinic as the midfielder looks to continue his rehabilitation from a troublesome ankle injury.

Otherwise, Pochettino has a fully-fit squad to choose from and Kieran Trippier is expected to be recalled on Saturday after being rested for the win at Stoke last time out while Eric Dier and Ben Davies are also set to return.

Tottenham head in to the weekend action sitting fourth in the Premier League table – level on points with Liverpool – but they can move to within just one point of Man Utd with a win over Man City.

Why is Rose being out for the weekends game a blow for Spurs?
