Liverpool Reach Agreement With Player Over 4-Year Deal Ahead Of £35m Anfield Move

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principal over a four-year contract with Dani Ceballos as they close-in on a deal to sign the Real Madrid midfielder

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Liverpool’s pursuit of Dani Ceballos…

Liverpool have reached an agreement in principal over a four-year contract with Dani Ceballos as they close-in on a deal to sign the £35m Real Madrid midfielder, according to a report in the Mirror.

Ceballos has struggled to force his way in to Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven on a regular basis since joining the European champions from Real Betis in a £15m move last summer.

The Spanish U21 international has started just 2 La Liga games so far this campaign with the vast majority of his playing time coming in the cup competitions or from the substitutes bench.

It’s led to speculation of a move away from the Bernabeu and Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder ahead of the summer after failing to agree a deal in January.

The Express reported earlier this week that Madrid had reluctantly agreed to cash-in after Ceballos made it clear he wanted to join Liverpool and it seems the Reds have wasted no time in getting a deal lined-up.

The Mirror are now citing a report from Calciomercato that claims Liverpool have reached an agreement in principal with Ceballos over a four-year contract after stepping-up talks with his agent.

The Italian outlet says Liverpool have managed to beat AC Milan to the midfielders signature and Madrid are ready to do business if their £35m [€40m] asking price is met.

That seems like a reasonable deal in today’s market for a player of Ceballos’s potential and I’d be surprised if Liverpool weren’t fully aware of his price-tag before the entered in to negotiations with his representatives.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for an attack-minded midfielder after failing to replace Philippe Coutinho following his move to Barcelona in January and it seems Ceballos could be the man to fill his boots.
