Liverpool are on the verge of beating Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated duo Ryan Sessegnon and James Maddison

The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are closing-in on a double swoop…

Liverpool are on the verge of beating Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated duo Ryan Sessegnon and James Maddison, according to a report in the Express.

Sessegnon is one of the hottest properties in Europe after scoring 15 goals to help Fulham maintain their promotion push from the Championship this season.

The 17-year-old was recently named as the Championship Player of the Season while he was also nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year, sparking calls for a late call-up to the England World Cup squad.

His potential has also alerted a number of top clubs with the Express claiming that the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have expressed their interest ahead of the summer.

However, it looks like Liverpool are now in pole position as the newspaper is citing a report from Anfield Edition that claims the Reds are confident of wrapping-up a deal as they’re in advanced talks with Sessegnon’s agent over a move.

Fulham will be desperate to keep hold of the left-back/winger but TeamTalk suggest they will cash-in if £50m is put on the table and it seems a move to Anfield could now be on the cards.

Midfielder Maddision has also become one of the most highly-rated players outside the top flight after providing 15 goals and 11 assists for a struggling Norwich City side this season.

The Express claim that United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been chasing the 21-year-old but again cite a report from Anfield Edition that says Liverpool are on the verge of sealing a deal.

The newspaper says Maddison is expecting to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad next season and is keen to play alongside close friend Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield.

Norwich are reportedly resigned to losing the England U21 international with the Mirror suggesting they’ll cash-in on the attacking midfielder if a top club offer in the region of £30m.

Klopp is in the market for another midfielder with Emre Can expected to leave when his contract expires in June and Maddison would be an exciting addition to the squad.
