LIVERPOOL – EVERTON: PREVIEW AND TEAM NEWS

Liverpool will host Everton on Saturday in the Premier League  for what will be the 213th Merseyside derby.

Both sides go into the game in decent form, with Everton losing just one in nine and Liverpool losing two from the same number of games. Both sides have kept three clean sheets in a row. But Liverpool  will be favourite’s as they are unbeaten in the last 6 Premier League meetings against Everton, with the last Blue’s  victory at Anfield coming way back in 1999.

Team News

Liverpool:

Rafa Benitez has problems at right back with Glen Johnson, Philipp Degan and Martin Kelly all sidelines. Jamie Carragher is expected to fill in with Daniel Agger in contention to start at centre half.

Fabio Aurelio may be back in the squad following a knee problem, so Rafa Bentiez has options in midfield. Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres remain sidelined.

Everton:

David Moyes should welcome back Yakubu and Joseph Yobo following their exploits at the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria. Mikel Arteta is pushing for a start after missing a year through a serious knee injury, but Phil Jagielka is still out. Everton have no fresh injury worries .

A Liverpool win will push them back into fourth spot, temporarily at least, with Manchester City and Spurs playing at 3pm and 5.30pm respectively. An Everton victory will see them leap-frog Birmingham into 8th.
