Transfer News: Manchester United Launch £60m Bid To Sign Liverpool Target

Manchester United have submitted an opening £60m bid to sign Liverpool target Milan Skriniar but Inter Milan are determined to hold out for more

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd have made their move to sign Milan Skriniar….

Manchester United have submitted an opening £60m bid to sign Liverpool target Milan Skriniar but Inter Milan are determined to hold out for more, according to a report in the Mirror.

Skriniar has been one of the most reliable centre-backs in Italian football since joining Sampdoria from Zillna in 2016 and he’s continued to develop his reputation as a top defender since making the move to Inter last summer.

The Slovakian international has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League and throughout Europe with the Mirror claiming that Man Utd, Liverpool and Barcelona are among the teams to have expressed their interest this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to strengthen throughout his squad over the coming months as he looks to compete on all fronts next season after suffering heartbreak in the Champions League final last month and the Liverpool boss may be eyeing Skriniar as a long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk.

However, it seems United have stolen a march on their rivals as the Mirror are citing a report from La Gazetta dello Sport that claims the Manchester giants have already formalised their interest with a £60m bid.

Jose Mourinho knows he needs to improve his squad if United are to compete with the likes of Man City next year having finished 19 points adrift of their city rivals last season and a new centre-back is believed to be a priority.

Chris Smalling had a decent season last year but Mourinho still needs to find a suitable partner for Eric Bailly and Skriniar could be viewed as a potential replacement for Victor Lindelof amid speculation he may leave following a disappointing debut season at Old Trafford.

However, United will have to dig a little deeper if they want to sign the 23-year-old as the Italian publication says Inter have already rebuffed their opening offer for Skriniar’s services.

We’ll have to wait and see whether United return with an improved bid or if Liverpool decide to step-up their pursuit but Skriniar would be an excellent signing if either club could get a deal agreed for his signature this summer.
