The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the race to sign Aleksandr Golovin hots-up….

Chelsea have joined Arsenal and Manchester United in the race to sign CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Golovin has been with CSKA his entire professional career after progressing through their youth ranks and has developed in to one of the best players in Russian football since breaking in to the first team set-up three years ago.

The 22-year-old is now a vital part of the CSKA starting eleven and has been one of the stars of the World Cup so far after putting in a superb goal-scoring performance during Russia’s opening 5-0 victory over Saudi Arabia last week.

Golovin’s potential has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs with the Express claiming that Arsenal and Manchester United have held a long-standing interest in the midfielder while Italian champions Juventus have also been linked more recently.

Arsenal are expected to be in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer after losing Santi Cazorla while Jack Wilshere is also tipped to leave the north Londoners after failing to agree terms over a new contract and it seems Golovin is a target.

United have already agreed a deal to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk but with Marouane Fellaini set to leave on a free transfer, Jose Mourinho could be on the look out for another midfielder with Golovin on his radar.

However, it looks like Arsenal and United will face fresh competition as the Express are citing a report from Evening Standard that claims Chelsea will launch a bid to sign Golovin once Maurizio Sarri is appointed manager.

Antonio Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge is in serious doubt and the newspaper says Sarri is expected to come in as his replacement after agreeing terms over his contract having left Napoli last month.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but the Express suggest that CSKA currently value Golovin at around £22m – but that asking price will surely rise if the midfielder continues to impress at the World Cup.
