Agent Arrives In London For Talks As Arsenal Look To Wrap-Up £43.8m Double Swoop

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal close-in on a double swoop….

Ever Banega’s agent is in London for transfer talks with Arsenal as Unai Emery looks to wrap-up a £43.8m double midfield swoop over the coming days, according to reports via TeamTalk.

Emery has been focusing his efforts on strengthening our back line since arriving as Arsene Wenger’s replacement with Stephan Lichtsteiner being snapped-up on a free transfer, goalkeeper Bernd Leno has been signed from Bayer Leverkusen while a deal for centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also reportedly agreed.

Arsenal chiefs are now looking to revamp our midfield options as Santi Cazorla has left for Villarreal while Jack Wilshere is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month so Emery is in the market for two new midfielders.

Banega has emerged as a key target in recent days and TeamTalk are citing a report from Gazzetta dello Sport that claims the Sevilla players agent, Marcelo Simonian, arrived in London on Thursday night to hold talks with Arsenal’s hierarchy.

The report says Arsenal have assured Banega he will be a key part of Emery’s plans and the club are now hoping to get a deal wrapped-up over the coming days as we prepare to meet his £17.5m release clause.

Emery knows the 29-year-old well having won two Europa League’s with the midfielder during their time together at Sevilla so it seems the pair are set to be reunited in north London as long as we can get a deal over the line.

Banega is currently away at the World Cup with Argentina but the South American giants are on the verge of been eliminated at the group stages so the midfielder could be available sooner than expected to wrap-up a move to Arsenal.

Banega isn’t the only midfielder Arsenal are closing-in on this summer as TeamTalk claim a £26.3m deal to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria is also imminent.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a switch to north London in recent weeks and Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero confirmed earlier this week that Torreira had ‘left the club’ so a move is certainly on the cards.

He’s currently in Russia representing Uruguay so an announcement over that deal may also have to wait until the defensive midfielder is finished at the World Cup but it looks like Arsenal are closing-in on a £43.8m double swoop.
