Arsenal Plotting Swoop For West Ham Target, Deal Can Be Agreed At £15m

Arsenal are considering a swoop for West Ham target Hector Herrera and Porto would be prepared to do business if £15m was put on the table

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Hector Herrera….

Arsenal are considering a swoop for West Ham target Hector Herrera and Porto would be prepared to do business if £15m was put on the table, according to reports via the Mirror.

Herrera has been a key player for Porto since arriving from Pachuca in 2013 with the midfielder scoring 26 goals and providing a further 32 assists in his 192 appearances and he was pivotal in their Premeira Liga title win last season.

The 28-year-old is also an integral part of the Mexico national team and has impressed in Russia where his country have booked their place in the last-16 of the World Cup after finishing second in Group F.

Herrera’s future at Porto is in serious doubt as he’s about to enter the final year of his contract and has so far failed to agree terms over an extension leading to speculation he could be on the move this summer.

The situation has alerted clubs throughout Europe with the Mirror claiming that West Ham, Everton and Roma have all shown an interest in signing the midfielder, but it looks like another top club has joined the race.

The newspaper is citing a report from Correio da Manha that claims Arsenal have now registered their interest in signing Herrera and Porto are willing to cash-in at £15m to prevent losing him for nothing next summer.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery has already signed right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno since replacing Arsene Wenger last month but the Spaniard is desperate to strengthen his options in midfield.

Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira has been tipped for a move to north London but with Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere both leaving this summer, Emery may need two new central midfielders and it seems Herrera has emerged as a target.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop once Herrera returns from international duty at the World Cup but Arsenal would have to be considered as favourites ahead of West Ham if the Mexican international decides he wants to come to the Premier League.
