Manchester United have held talks with Adrien Rabiot’s agent about a move this summer with the £35m-rated midfielder unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France via TeamTalk.
Jose Mourinho has already snapped up right-back Diogo Dalot from Porto while midfielder Fred has arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk but the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen if they’re to compete with Manchester City for the title having finished 19 points adrift last season.
Another central midfielder could be on the agenda as Michael Carrick has retired and Ander Herrera is being linked with a move back to Spain and it seems Mourinho has identified Rabiot as a potential target.
TeamTalk are citing a report from Paris United that claims United chiefs have held talks with Rabiot’s mother – who is also his agent – about a potential move to Old Trafford as the unsettled midfielder contemplates his future in France.
The 23-year-old has been at PSG his entire career having come through their youth ranks and after struggling to become a regular since breaking in to the first team set-up in 2012, Rabiot finally established himself last season with 44 appearances in all competitions.
However, despite helping PSG land a domestic treble, the midfielder missed out on a place in the French World Cup squad and the report says that snub has led to Rabiot considering a move away from the Parc des Prince this summer.

The situation as seemingly alerted United with Paris United, via TeamTalk, claiming that talks are underway over a possible move for the £35m-rated star but the Red Devils will face stiff competition from City as they are also in the running for Rabiot’s signature.
Pep Guardiola has been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer but the City boss is expected to bring in a replacement for Yaya Toure and Rabiot could be seen as the perfect long-term successor for Fernandinho.

The report says the Frenchman will speak to new boss Thomas Tuchel before making any final decision over his future but it seems United and City are ready to offer him a fresh start in England if he decides to leave PSG.
