The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham are linked with Andre Gomes…

Arsenal are favourites ahead of Tottenham to sign Andre Gomes with Barcelona ready to cash-in on the £35.3m-rated midfielder this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Gomes came through the youth ranks at Benfica but made his name during an impressive two-year spell at Valencia which led to a move to Barcelona in 2016, however, his time at the Nou Camp hasn’t gone according to plan.

The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place under Ernesto Valverde and started just 6 La Liga games last season with the vast majority of his appearances coming from the substitutes bench.

It’s led to speculation that Gomes will be on the move this summer and his situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming that Arsenal and Tottenham have registered their interest in signing the Portuguese international.

The Sky Italia journalist says Barcelona will cash-in if at least £35.3m (€40m) is put on the table with Arsenal understood to be favourites ahead of Spurs to sign the talented midfielder this summer.

This report is supported by the Independent, who also claim that Unai Emery has identified Gomes as a key summer transfer target with the Arsenal boss ready to sell some of his fringe players to raise the required funds to sign the Barca star.

Emery has been working to a tight budget since replacing Arsene Wenger and with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos already signed and Lucas Torreira on the way, there isn’t much left over for big-money signings.

Arsenal need to revamp their midfield options as Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere have left the club and Gomes would be a solid addition if Emery could get him back playing like he was during his time at Valencia.

However, Tottenham won’t give up without a fight as Mauricio Pochettino is also in the market for reinforcements as he looks to turn Spurs in to genuine contenders and Gomes could be viewed as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele – who’s being linked with a move this summer.
