Liverpool Table £12m Bid As Klopp Closes-In On 3rd Summer Signing

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool have made an offer for Domagoj Vida….

Liverpool have submitted an opening £12m bid to sign Besiktas centre-back Domagoj Vida as Jurgen Klopp looks to secure his third summer signing, according to reports in Turkey via the Mirror.

Klopp has already splashed out big money on the signing of Fabinho from Monaco while Naby Keita has also completed his move from RB Leipzig but the Reds boss has suggested he’s still working hard on further new recruits as he looks to make Liverpool genuine title contenders next season.

A new centre-back appears to be on the agenda as Dejan Lovren endured an inconsistent campaign last season and he could face competition from one of his Croatian international team-mates at Anfield next year.

That’s because the Mirror are citing a report from Turkish outlet Aksam that claims Liverpool have tabled an opening offer in the region of £12m for Domagoj Vida after Klopp identified the Besiktas defender as a summer target.

The 29-year-old made his name during a five-year spell at Dynamo Kiev before joining Besiktas in January 2018 and he enjoyed an impressive first six months in Turkey during the second half of last season.

Vida has continued to impress at the World Cup where he’s helped lead Croatia to the quarter-finals following their penalty shoot-out victory over Denmark and they’ll face hosts Russia for a place in the last 4 later this evening.

It seems Klopp has seen enough to launch a move to try and lure the centre-back to Merseyside and the chance to play with Lovren at Liverpool may be a tempting proposition for Vida.

The experienced defender is predominantly a centre-back but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the back four so his versatility would be a useful asset for Klopp if Liverpool were able to get a deal agreed.

However, that won’t be easy as Besiktas are in a strong position as Vida still have four years left on his contract so the Turkish giants may hold out for more than the £12m Liverpool have put on the table.
