Arsenal Agree Surprise Deal: Player Set To Undergo Medical & Sign 5-Year Contract

Matteo Guendouzi is set to travel to London on Monday to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract with Arsenal ahead of a £7m move from Lorient

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Matteo Guendouzi is set to join Arsenal….

French youngster Matteo Guendouzi is set to travel to London on Monday to undergo a medical and sign a five-year contract with Arsenal ahead of a £7m move from Lorient, according to reports via the Mirror.

New boss Unai Emery has been in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer after losing Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla and we’re reportedly on the verge of signing Sampdoria star Lucas Torriera while speculation suggests Arsenal chiefs are also in talks with Sevilla over Steven N’Zonzi.

However, it looks like we’re closing-in on the shock signing of a relatively unknown French youngster with the Mirror citing various sources in France as claiming that Arsenal have agreed a £7m deal to sign Lorient star Guendouzi.

The newspaper says the 19-year-old has already agreed terms over a five-year contract and will travel to London to undergo his medical on Monday ahead of a surprise move to the Emirates.

Guendouzi came through the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain but joined Lorient four years ago and has developed in to one of the hottest young talents in French football since breaking in to their first team in 2016.

The teenager made his name as a box-to-box midfielder but starred in a defensive midfield position last season after making 21 first team appearances and he’s already been capped at Under-20 level by his country.

The Mirror claim Guendouzi attracted interest from Manchester City and Tottenham but it’s Arsenal who’ve agreed a deal to sign the highly-rated midfielder and he’s set to become our latest summer signing.

Arsenal have already snapped-up goalkeeper Bernd Leno, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos while a deal to sign Torreira should be completed over the coming days.

It will be interesting to see if Guendouzi’s arrival ends our reported interest in N’Zonzi as I highly doubt we’ll sign three central midfielders this summer unless someone like Aaron Ramsey was to leave the club.
