“2 Medicals At Arsenal Today” – BBC Journalist Confirms Imminent £33.5m Double Deal

David Ornstein has confirmed Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi will undergo medicals with Arsenal today as Unai Emery closes in on a double swoop.

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi to undergo medicals with Arsenal

BBC journalist David Ornstein has confirmed Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi will undergo medicals with Arsenal today as Unai Emery closes in on a double midfielder swoop.

Torreira has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks and Football London reported over the weekend that the defensive midfielder was travelling to London from Russia to complete his switch after representing Uruguay at the World Cup finals.

The report says a £26.5m deal was agreed with Sampdoria last month but Torreira decided to postpone taking his medical until after the World Cup so he could focus on representing his country in Russia – where he helped the South American side reach the quarter finals.

Ornstein says the 22-year-old is now set to have his medical in north London today and barring any late hiccups, the tough tackling midfielder will become Arsenal’s latest addition to the first team squad.

Torreira is regarded as a player who will have an immediate impact as he’s expected to become our new defensive midfielder and protect the back four behind Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka.

However, Arsenal are also about to sign a player for the future with Ornstien confirming that French youngster Guendouzi will undergo his medical with the club today ahead of a move from Lorient.

Guendouzi emerged as a surprise target over the weekend with the Mirror citing reports coming out of France that claimed Arsenal had agreed a £7m deal with Lorient to sign the versatile midfielder.

The 19-year-old made his name as a box-to-box midfielder after breaking in to the Lorient first team two years ago but he starred in a more defensive midfield role last season after making 21 first team appearances in Ligue 2.

Guendouzi has already represented France at Under-20 level and he’s tipped for a bright future so he should be an exciting addition to the squad if this proposed deal gets over the line.

So it looks like Arsenal are about to splash £33.5m on two new midfielders taking our summer business to five new recruits following the arrivals of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
