The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Domagoj Vida…

Liverpool have seen an improved £20m bid for Domagoj Vida accepted by Besiktas as Jurgen Klopp closes-in on his fifth summer signing, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Klopp wrapped-up a sensational world-record £65m deal to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma on Thursday night with the Brazilian international goalkeeper following Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xhedran Shaqiri in making moves to Anfield this summer.

However, the Reds are still in the market for further reinforcements and a centre-back is reportedly a priority as Klopp looks to find a reliable partner for Virgil van Dijk amid on-going doubts over Dejan Lovren and one of his international team-mates has emerged as a potential target.

Vida has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks with the Mirror reporting earlier this month that Liverpool had submitted an opening £12m offer for the Croatian international defender.

That bid fell short of Besiktas’s £31m valuation but it seems Liverpool have now found an agreement somewhere in the middle as TeamTalk are citing a report from Turkish outlet Aksam that claims an improved £20m has been accepted.

The Reds could yet face late competition as the report says the likes of Everton, Fulham and West Ham have all expressed their interest but as it stands it seems Liverpool are in pole position to sign Vida.

The 29-year-old only joined Besiktas in January following an impressive five-year spell at Dinamo Kiev and he enjoyed an excellent World Cup having played a key role in Croatia’s march to the final before their 4-2 defeat to France.

If this proposed deal goes through, Vida would join compatriot Lovren at Anfield but they’d be fighting for the same position in Klopp’s starting eleven as van Dijk is nailed-on to start this season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but I’d personally take these reports with a pinch of salt and wait for something more concrete to come out as I’m not convinced how much truth is behind them.

Vida doesn’t fit the mold of the type of player Liverpool have been signing in recent windows and I’m not sure he has the required quality to play for Klopp’s side so I’d be surprised if this supposed deal went through.
