Man Utd Chief In Spain Thrashing Out Deal To Sign £35.5m International Star

Manchester United chief Matt Judge is in Spain trying to thrash out a deal with Barcelona over the signing of £35.5m defender Yerry Mina

There is plenty of Manchester United gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. Today, United are closing-in on Yerry Mina…

Manchester United chief Matt Judge is in Spain trying to thrash out a deal with Barcelona over the signing of £35.5m defender Yerry Mina, according to various reports.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his frustration at United’s lack of transfer business this summer as they’ve only made three additions to the squad and Fred is the only player expected to be a first team regular with Lee Grant a third-choice goalkeeper and Diogo Dalot a young up and coming defender.

Mourinho has admitted he’d ideally like to see two more players arrive before the transfer window closes and a central defender is on the agenda as doubts continue over the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly while Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo are being linked with moves away.

Harry Maguire has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but the Mirror claim United have now turned their attention to Mina after struggling to agree terms with Leicester City for the England World Cup hero.

The newspaper reported yesterday that United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge had flown out to Barcelona to try and thrash out a deal for Mina – who’s also attracted interest from Everton and Wolves this summer.

However, the Colombian international favours a move to United and Spanish outlet Sport claims Judge is now in Spain discussing terms but Barcelona are only willing to sell if their £35.5m asking price is met.

United may not have a problem meeting their valuation as that figure is a lot less than the £65m being suggested for Maguire so we could see this proposed deal wrapped-up fairly swiftly.

Mina has struggled to establish himself since joining Barca from Palmeiras in January and he’s fallen even further down the pecking order following the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla this summer.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive World Cup and he has all the makings of a top class defender so I think Mina could prove to be a shrewd signing if United could get this deal over the line before the window closes.
