Chelsea Cleared To Sign £75m Star After Tottenham Refuse To Pay Asking Price

Chelsea have been cleared to push ahead with a deal for Wilfried Zaha after Tottenham withdrew their interest due to Crystal Palace’s £75m asking price

The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are favourites to sign Wilfried Zaha…

Chelsea have been cleared to push ahead with a deal for Wilfried Zaha after Tottenham withdrew their interest due to Crystal Palace’s £75m asking price, according to the Mirror.

Zaha has been a vital player for the Eagles since returning to Selhurst Park three years ago and he played a key role in helping Palace avoid relegation from the Premier League last season after providing 9 goals and 5 assists in his 29 appearances.

However, the 25-year-old attacker has been tipped for a move again this summer after rejecting an improved £125,000-a-week contract and the Ivory Coast international has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the league with Tottenham and Chelsea linked in recent months.

Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make a single signing this summer but the Tottenham boss is expected to be busy over the coming days trying to strengthen his squad and Zaha was among the players on his radar.

However, it looks like Pochettino will have to move on to other targets as the Mirror claim that Spurs have now withdrawn from the race to sign the winger after refusing to meet Palace’s £75m valuation.

This has left Chelsea with a clear run at Zaha and the newspaper says Palace will do business if they submit an offer close to their asking price before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday evening.

Maurizio-Sarri-chelsea

Maurizio Sarri has snapped up midfielder Jorginho and third-choice goalkeeper Rob Green since replacing Antonio Conte in the Stamford Bridge hot seat but he too is expected to be active during the final stages of the window.

An attacker is on the agenda for the Chelsea boss as Willian appears to be pushing for a move away from west London and Zaha could be viewed as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian international.
