Man Utd & Chelsea In Talks With Agent Over Deal To Sign £89m Star

The agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has opened talks with Manchester United and Chelsea over a potential £89m deal to sign the Lazio midfielder, according to reports in Italy via TeamTalk.

Milinkovic-Savic has developed in to one of the most in-demand players in Europe since joining Lazio from Genk in 2015 and he enhanced his reputation by providing 14 goals and 9 assists to help his club finish fifth in the Serie A table last season while he also represented Serbia at the World Cup this summer.

The 23-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League with Manchester United and Chelsea among those to have been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder over the past few months.

The English giants were put off by Lazio’s initial £134m valuation so it looked as though Milinkovic-Savic was set to stay in Rome with speculation suggesting the clubs president was ready to offer him a new contract.

However, a move could still be on the cards as TeamTalk are citing a report from Il Corriere dello Sport that claims Milinkovic-Savic’s representative Mateja Kezman has made contact with Man Utd and Chelsea to offer them the chance to sign the midfielder.

It seems Lazio have lowered their asking price as the Italian publication says Milinkovic-Savic is now available for £89m so Kezman has held talks with the Premier League heavy-weights to discuss a possible deal.

Chelsea are expected to be busy over the next few days reshuffling their squad and with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater tipped to leave, Maurizio Sarri has confirmed he’d like to bring in another midfielder so they may be tempted by Milinkovic-Savic.

Jose Mourinho is also in the market for further reinforcements after being disappointed by United’s transfer business so far and the Reds could yet swoop for Milinkovic-Savic amid on-going speculation linking Paul Pogba with a move away from Old Trafford.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea or Man Utd are prepared to meet Lazio’s supposed £89m asking price but time is running out if they want to get a deal agreed for Milinkovic-Savic before Thursday’s deadline.
