Arsenal Table £25m Offer To Sign World Cup Star, Club Ready To Do Business

Arsenal have tabled a £25m bid to sign Domagoj Vida and Besiktas are ready to get a deal wrapped-up for the defender before Thursday’s deadline

The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are closing-in on Domagoj Vida…

Arsenal have tabled a £25m bid to sign Domagoj Vida and Besiktas are ready to get a deal wrapped-up for the defender before Thursday’s deadline, according to Turkish outlet Mynet.com.

Unai Emery has already signed five new players since taking over from Arsene Wenger earlier in the summer but the Spanish coach is ready to dip back in to the transfer market and another centre-back is on the agenda with Calum Chambers set to join Fulham on loan.

Vida has emerged as a prime target to replace Chambers with TeamTalk reporting over the weekend that Arsenal were ready to step-up their interest in the Croatian international after being impressed by his performances at the World Cup finals.

It seems we’ve not formalised our interest as Turkish outlet Mynet claims Arsenal have offered to pay £25m for Vida’s signature and are battling it out with West Ham over a deal.

The publication says Lyon and PSG are also keen on Vida but Besiktas are ready to sell the centre-back to Arsenal or West Ham as our proposals are worth more than the French clubs offers – although there is no mention about how much the Hammers have put on the table.

Turkey CNN support these reports as they also claim Arsenal are in talks with Besiktas over a £25m deal to sign Vida with £5m-rated David Ospina possibly heading in the opposite direction as a makeweight in any deal.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but with Chambers off to Fulham there is a void to be filled in defence and it looks like Vida is the man Emery has identified to fill it.

The 29-year-old spent five years with Dinamo Kiev before joining Besiktas in January but he burst on to the scene with some excellent performances at the World Cup to help Croatia reach the final.
