Arsenal Eyeing Bid To Sign £27m Liverpool Target As Emery Plots Late Swoop

Arsenal are eyeing a late swoop to sign Liverpool target Domagoj Vida with Besiktas ready to do business if £27m is put on the table this summer

The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are ready to make their move for Vida…

Arsenal are eyeing a late swoop to sign Liverpool target Domagoj Vida with Besiktas ready to do business if around £27m is put on the table this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

Vida spent five years at Dinamo Kiev before joining Besiktas in January but he’s become hot property around Europe after starring for Croatia at the World Cup this summer with the defender playing a vital role in helping them reach the final before eventually losing to France.

The 29-year-old’s displays in Russia have attracted interest from the Premier League and TeamTalk reported last week that Liverpool had agreed personal terms with Vida over an initial two-year contract ahead of a possible move to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his back-line ahead of the new season.

That proposed deal hasn’t progressed and although the Evening Standard claim Liverpool are continuing to monitor Vida’s situation, they say it’s Arsenal who are now eyeing a last minute swoop to sign the player.

Unai Emery is looking to sign another centre-back after loaning Calum Chambers to Fulham but the Arsenal boss is under pressure to offload more fringe players before spending any more money having already splashed his £70m budget on five new players.

The likes of David Ospina, Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez could all leave the Emirates over the coming days and the Gunners have offered Besiktas their pick of the trio in exchange for Vida.

The Turkish giants are reportedly keen on Ospina and the Colombian is on the market for around £6m after falling down the pecking order following Bernd Leno’s arrival. Arsenal want to discuss a player-plus-cash swap deal but the newspaper says Besiktas are only interested in a straight cash deal.

The Evening Standard claims Vida is keen on securing a move to England and while Arsenal are eyeing a late bid but they will need to pay £26.9m to get an agreement in place to sign the Croatian international centre-back.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Arsenal are prepared to meet that asking price or if Liverpool step-up their interest over the coming hours but the clubs need to act fast if they want to get a deal wrapped-up before Thursday’s deadline.
