Arsenal could cash-in on Mohamed Elneny this summer as Marseille eye a move for the out-of-favour Egyptian midfielder, according to the Mirror.

Elneny joined Arsenal from Basel in 2016 but has struggled to establish himself as anything more than a squad player with the 26-year-old starting just 19 Premier League games under former boss Arsene Wenger over the past two years with the majority of his playing time coming in the cups.

The Egyptian international’s chances of regular action look even bleaker under Unai Emery as our new manager has strengthen his options in the middle of the park after bringing in Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in recent weeks.

Guendouzi started ahead of Elneny during our opening league defeat to Manchester City on Sunday with Torreira making his debut off the bench in the second half meaning Elneny had to make-do with being an unused substitute.

With Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey also ahead of him in the pecking order and youngsters like Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Emile Rowe Smith and Joe Willock now part of the first team squad, Elneny is facing plenty of competition in midfield.

He did sign a new four-year contract earlier this year but the Mirror claim Arsenal only offered him a new deal to protect his transfer value and we could yet cash-in on the midfielder before the end of the month.

The newspaper says Marseille hope to convince Arsenal to sell as they line-up a formal offer for Elneny and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave over the coming weeks if a suitable bid is put on the table.

He’s clearly not going to be a first team regular under Emery and isn’t good enough to start for a top Premier League club so I think it would be good business to sell if we can get at least £15m.
