REPORT: Man United on Verge Of Being Sold?

Reports surfaced this morning that Qatari Holdings were on the verge of buying Manchester United. The story originated in the Daily Express. You can read the whole story here from the Express but here are the main points:

The Daily Express understands that United’s owners, the Glazer family, are “only haggling over details” with a deal to sell the club to Qatar Holdings virtually done at £1.6 billion. I now understand that broad agreement in principle has been reached, with Qatar Holdings finding another £100m above their initial approach of £1.5bn.

Glazers Selling?

Apparently, a well placed source told a menber of the Daily Express that The deal is pretty much done and they are only haggling over details. I have to admit, I got a bit excited my self when I heard this news this morning. The thought of the Glazers out is hugely appealing and the substancial money in. I have to say though that it is not even that mucha bout the money. Just to get those Americans out would be enough for me at the moment. Of course, it would also be nice to have some substancial funds to splash on players.

However, reports since then have claimed that this is all nonsense and there is nothing in it. United have moved to deny the takeover approach. It seems a pretty unlikely stroy just at the moment but would there be this much smoke without fire? What do you think?
