[VIDEO] The 2008 Final: A Look Back At The Last Time Utd Met Chelsea In Europe

The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Champions League was made today and United were drawn against the familiar foe of Chelsea in the last eight. Crucially, the first leg will be played in Stamford Bridge which gives United a definite advantage.

There was definitely worse draws out there for United and I would be quietly confident. Indeed, the path to the final is very achievable, with United avoiding the Spanish powerhouses until any potential final. Inter Milan or Schalke would await in the semi final.

Chelsea will be gunning for the Champions League this year, as that is the trophy that Ambramovich clearly wants and he has made no secret of that. Although we lost to them recently at Stamford Bridge, it was a game we were unlucky not to get a result from and the ground shouldn’t hold much fear for us, although our recent record isn’t great there. This is a Chelsea team who are lacking in form and the firepower of years gone by.

It won’t be easy but I would still fancy United to come through this. Ahead of the tie, it would be great to get someone like Fletcher back to his best form as the Chelsea midfield is powerful and on occasion, we can look a little light against them. All things considered though, it is not the worst draw that was out there.

Full draw:

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Real Madrid v Tottenham

Wednesday, 6 April 201
