[Prediction] Liverpool vs Tottenham: The Battle For Fifth

As the season races to its conclusion the battle for European football in next seasons campaign is still an unanswered question. As it stands Tottenham are in fifth and hold a five point lead over Liverpool with a game in hand. However Spurs have not won in the league since mid February and have dropped nine points in their last four games.

However with the international break coming at the wrong time for the Reds. Liverpool’s form has been stop start recently. They have picked up ten points in their last six games compared to Spur’s nine. However before Liverpool’s collapse at West Brom at the weekend, the Reds had won back to back games and were looking good to finish the season with a flourish.

The fifth place battle could come down to Spur’s involvement in the Champions League. As Harry Redknapp will do his best to ensure his side don’t suffer from a European hangover. However Tottenham could show to much focus on Europe leaving King Kenny and his troops the chance to nseek into fifth.

Both teams run in have potential banana skins. It’s to close to call as to who has the easier final run of fixtures. Spurs do have a game in hand but their form is sketchy to say the least. Both sides have to face Arsenal and Manchester City. However the clash at Anfield could be the deciding game on who finishes fifth and possibly in the last European place. However I think it will all be over by then. Spurs five point lead will be enough to keep them in the top five despite their dodgy form and Champions League distractions they will stumble over the finishing line in Europe.

Remaining fixtures/ Prediction

Will be close, but you have LFC away to Man City, this is actually a home game for Liverpool, and can see LFC taking all 3 points to be honest

Borris Yid I think 5th is the best Spurs can hope for. I’ve been generous in my preditions mainly because Spurs are home so often in the final run of the season. Although I wouldn’t be shocked if they drew some of those home games.

You are right Mr Snail. However I still see it being a draw. Although Liverpool have been excellent at home against the teams above them.

so you think Liverpool will be unbeaten for the rest of the season? Gimme a break. Away defeats at West Brom and West Ham recently show that away from home, u r still struggling. Yes you won at (an extremely poor) Sunderland but I can see you getting beat at Fulham and Villa and probably Arsenal too
