TRANSFER NEWS: Arsenal Line Up £22m Duo

By on April 7, 2011

Well, there have been lots of transfer rumours involving Arsenal lately, but can they put words into actions? The word on the street is Arsenal are set to offer a total of £22m for Manchester City and Bolton stars.

The Manchester City player Arsenal are looking to sign is in fact Irish goalkeeper, Shay Given. Given has been sitting on the sidelines recently and is being kept out through Joe Hart’s impeccable form, therefore possibly offering Arsenal to get him on the cheap.

It is no secret that Arsene Wenger has been on the search for a new goalkeeper recently, with summer bids confirmed for both Mark Schwarzer and Pepe Reina, due to the inconsistent performances of Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski. And now a move for the other of favour Given has been mooted.

The rumours have also been circulating that Arsenal are prepared to launch a bid for Bolton centerback Gary Cahill, as they try and get backup, or maybe even a long term replacement for that problematic centerback position at the Emirates.

Arsenal have again looked vulnerable at the back at times this season and summer signings Koscielny and Squiallci have both struggled to put in consistent performances week in week out. The long term injury problems for Vermaelen have seen him out for the entire season and it’s thought Wenger will look to bring in an established centre back this summer with Cahill top of his wish list.

i would like to say it a interesting report, but sorry got bored, soon as you said we going after shay given and cahill. i gave up reading this dribble.
once again i have to do the reporting for you, here goes…..
one wenger not interested in a keeper , fabinaski has been solid this season with his last 3 games produceing 3 clean sheets.Szczesny a talented up and comming keeper too ,and he won’t be happy becoming the 3rd choice keeper again,so no keeper will come in and certainly not given, as for cahill, lol do you really think wenger and he arsenal board will spend 15million plus for a defender that will be 3rd possibly 4th choice behind vermaleen and djourou, and koncielny, no i doubt it very much too.

Holy shit, someone who can actually assess the team instead of writing the same nonsense drivel about Cahill and a keeper. Every team needs 3 top quality CB, which we have when TV5, Kos and Djourou are fit. Problem is trust in collective fitness of TV5 and Djourou. I doubt a CB will be bought, more pressing is our need for another goalscorer, preferably a classic poacher like Klose and a DMID to cover for song

so we got a wobbly defence? well being 2nd in the league in april and getting to a cup final , means it wobbley then i glade we not got the solid defence of wolves or west ham utd. we’ve conceeded less the the top team man utd, and you would’t call them wobbley would you, give the players support instead off this neadless rubbish, and put downs.

stop it. ars’s defending is always shaking whenever opponents attack every game. even poor teams. in the 1st game with Barca, they look venerable and could have been defeated any moments. yes, ars had a perfect games. But honestly, Barca suddenly dropped thier form.
Mu’s defending is also poor but only some games when they lost thier important defenders. look at them defenced chelsea in cp. Why? three top class defenders: vidic, and rio are the two best in the world right now and evra.
We should not criticize the team. But SIX YEARS WITH THE SAME OLD POLICY. we just talk the truth.

    Our defence…
Our team has fewer goals against/game in EPL than ManU and Spurs and NOBODY talks about their wobbly/shaky defence…

Wenger should admit his trophy drought could have been added if he had plugged the loopholes in the teaam.I am afraid his faith in the current players eg Alumunia, the two F G has been rewarded with below par performances. Had he bought quality instead of cheap products, the outcome could have been better,
I think it is another season to forget. If the same thing happen next season ie more kids and no quality back up,there could be a revolution at the ES.More season ticket holders will decide not to renew and there will bebig gaps in the terraces. Then the board may have have the unpleaant job of taking the FM to task.

How does he have faith in almunia? He’s only forced to play him due to injuries to sceszeny and fabiansky. I’m pretty sure almunia will be sold in the summer. Lehman will replace him as soon as he is match fit possibly even for the Blackpool game.

My only criticism of arsene this season is he gambled on vermaelens fitness.

Every year we have this huge speculation going on for arsenal, and every time we get disappointed to see our rivals clinching away the stars and us settling down for average players like squilllaci. please don’t go by the rumors, most probably we wont be shopping at all or even if we do it will be some low profile player from a tier-3 club.

You guys are football jokers, how can you compared this mentioned keepers to Fab and scyz, pliz stop it. We don’t need more keeepers coz the season is over and next season our best are back. No money to waste for your information, God forbid gossipers.

Its time we acceoted the truth ie; Arsenal do not buy players of top quality if they can get a cheap alternative. So, Cahill & Benzema who are very badly needed can only be bought if we sell Cesc for £40 (which we will alongside I hope Clichy for £10 mill and Bendner for £8 mill and Denilson for Nectar points)
I have noticed that when a star is sold by AFC , half the fee is used the other half disappears? Ie; Henry, Adebayor & Toure…..? We got Kossy & squilli?

The only good thing about them two is that Squilli will become another Cygan and slowly go…Kossy will become a great DMF which we badly need. That will give us the defence we are desperate for.

    Szcesney….Sagna….Cahill…Vermaelen / Djourou Gibbs.
With Kossy in front of them.

I won’t believe it until I see it on the news. If Wenger is not going to sell Denilson and Diaby or drop them to the reserves in the summer, I will be very very disappointed. Kicking them out of the team is almost like hearing a new signing for me.
