Chelsea vs West Ham: Preview, Team News & Predicted Teams

Chelsea vs West Ham

(English Premier League)

Date: Saturday, 23th April 2011; Kick-Off: 17:30 BST

Venue: Stamford Bridge

After the comprehensive 3-1 win against Birmingham City at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea leapfrogged Arsenal to move up in to second place and will look to build on the win and carry the same momentum ahead for the remaining five games.

Chelsea now are just six points behind Man United in the Premier league and its not over until the last game. West Ham lie 19th in the table and are fighting for their lives to stay in the coveted league but have taken just one point from their last four and have lost their last three, their worst sequence since the start of the season. So its a game in which they will also be looking to snatch at-least a point. But it promises to be a game full of action and hard tackles.

TEAM NEWS

Chelsea could have the services of Brazilian pair Alex and Ramires to call upon after they missed the last two games due to injury. Ashley Cole is the only doubt for this game after he was substituted in the second half after nasty tackles from Birmingham players.

West Ham’s most influential player, who was also voted as the 2011 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association has a 50-50 chance of playing against his former team. He missed the latest defeat, the 2-1 home loss against Aston Villa, with an Achilles problem.

Probable Team Line-ups

Chelsea: Cech; Bosingwa, David Luiz, Terry, Ivanovic; Kalou, Mikel, Lampard; Torres, Drogba, Malouda

West Ham: Green; Jacobsen, Da Costa, Upson, Bridge; Noble, Parker, Hitzlsperger; O’Neil, Cole, Ba.

Referee: Phil Dowd.
