[VIDEO GOALS] Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham: Controversial Goals Sink Spurs At The Bridge

By on April 30, 2011

Chelsea closed the gap on Man Utd to just 3 points with a controversial 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Tottenham took the lead in spectacular fashion when defensive midfielder Sandro smashed past Cech from 25 yards, before getting a rollicking from Harry Redknapp for venturing too far forward! The games first controversial moment arrived just before half time, Lampard hitting a speculative 25 yard effort straight at Gomes only for the keeper to spill the ball through his legs. Gomes got a hand to the ball as it crept over the line but the goal was given by the linesman, however replays showed the whole ball hadn’t crossed the line.

With little over 2 minutes left on the clock the second controversy arrived as Kalou poked home from close range to score the winner, but again replays showed the officials got it wrong as the Chelsea man was in an offside position. Watch highlights below…

0-1 Sandro

1-1 Lampard

2-1 Kalou

Carlo did well: He brought Ramires and Kalou on when Essien and Malouda looked slow. This closed down Tottenham’s passing and put a man on he end of a ball that turned into a goal. I was concerned about Drogba and Torres playing together, but it was ok. We definitley need more pace for next year. Drogba, Essien, Terry, and Lampard are looking a meter short. Hoepfully this win will press Man-U into mistakes tomorrow.

It was a fantastic game from start to finish, I disagress with what the reporter said about Lampard’s goal, more than half of the ball had crossed the goal-line and I applouded the linesman for that brilliant performance. But for Kalou’s goal, may be I will like to watch the reshow before any comment. Up Chelsea. Utd gonna lose at Arsenal…

absolute nightmare, should’nt have been a goal we can all agree im sure , but for most of the first half the ref seemed to have forgotten the old saying ” 2 wrongs dont make a right as i feel he gave a couple of decisions especially the penalty appeals againist chelsea but in the end typically where chelsea are involved justice was not done as they were LUCKY enough to get the benifit of some atrocious “offical-dom” and gifted a second goal , chelsea have been POOR at best this season they have developed a soft under belly and any team which has the gall the stand up to them as someone would any school yard bully will find them turn as yellow as there ridiculas away strips!!!
