Arsenal Transfer Target Wins PFA Award

Arsenal transfer target Emilio Izaguirre has bagged the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award with Celtic.

The left back beat team-mate Gary Hooper, Old Firm rival Steven Naismith and Kilmarnock’s Alexei Eremenko to the award at a ceremony in Glasgow. Arsenal were looking to him as a potential long term replacement for the potentially departing Gael Clichy.

The Honduran has had a splendid season so far, although he only has a solitary goal to show for it, yet he gets many assists. A player with a similar playing style to the likes of Sergio Ramos and Dani Alves, Johan Mjallby, Celtic’s assistant manager has put his name forward as one of the best in his position.

This will certainly help his credentials in trying to get that big move to Arsenal, although it is yet to be seen whether Arsene Wenger is willing to stump up the cash to make this move possibly in the summer.

Gael Clichy will also have a part in this transfer, with him yet to agree a contract extension with the Gunners, and is rumoured to be a target for Barcelona.
