Former Gunner Hints At £15m Tottenham Move

By on May 14, 2011

The former Arsenal hit man could be on his way to Spurs this summer. Emmanuel Adebayor has been on loan to Real Madrid since January but has failed to secure a permanent deal at the Bernabeu and has identified Tottenham as his most desired club to join, the Togo striker said “I would go there and sign for them and listen to what they have to say to me.

“I will definitely come back to the Premier League, I do not know when but I miss it.

“I felt sad because before joining Real Madrid my first choice was Tottenham,” he said. “I was supposed to sign for Tottenham before Madrid came in.

“I heard this song [that the Spurs fans sang about him] and I did not take it seriously because I know part of me is from London and Tottenham is part of London.

“They were angry with me because I was taking their team out of the Champions League and I can understand that.

“I did not take it badly but it is bad because people have to realise that we are footballers. Today we play for one team, tomorrow we may end up playing for another.

“What if I am wearing a Tottenham shirt tomorrow?”

City didn’t want to sell the lanky striker to a Champions League rival in January but Adebayor looks set to leave in the summer and would cost in the region of £15million.

Part of me would like to Adebayor play for Spurs, he is everything we need in a CF.
Another part of me does not trust his nature or temperament. This “today we play for one team tomorrow another is NOT a good sign, what if he decides over night “I don’t want to play for this club anymore” players are fickle.

If he could give 100% commitment to the club and become a team player than yeah come on down, but can he really do that?

Needs 10 shots before scoring so expect 300+ misses per season. He’s a strong player though and gets in on goal with ease usually, but like someone points out, he’ll be for the short term. Mourinho always wanted Adebayor, and if he’s discarding him so quickly there’s a damn good reason for it. It will have more to do than the players attitude. He handled Drogba didn’t he? I would forget about Adebayor altogether.
